Next-Gen Sales Training

Overview

AutoTrader Group, a division of Cox Communications, sought to rethink their annual sales training programs for the 2014 calendar year by replacing a traditional two week facilitator-led training curriculum with on-demand training resources delivered via mobile devices. The sales training team wanted to provide engaging learning, measure knowledge retention and keep sales teams better connected with their managers and peers.

Mobile

Training was delivered via company issued Apple iOS iPhone handsets and iPad tablet sellers used to access interactive courseware (Articulate Storyline), instructional videos and review PDF-based reference materials.

Gamification

Sellers can track their learning progress through applied game mechanics by completing assignments, earning points and interacting with their peers. Trophies were awarded to top performers and participants.

Results

Launched fall 2013 to 800 people; expanding now to cover 10K. 98% completed all assignments including UGC tasks. Saved $2M over ATG’s traditional facilitator-delivered annual training programs.
